Taipans Fixtures: Version 3

The CQUniversity Cairns Taipans have today been informed that the 2021 NBL schedule has changed and the club will now host their first game on Saturday 16 January, against the Kings at the Cairns Pop-up Arena.
The NBL continue to try and navigate around the COVID-19 challenges, and will now stage games exclusively in Queensland and South Australia in the opening round.
The Taipans were set to host the season opener for the first time in over a decade on Friday, but the first game will now be at the Adelaide Entertainment Centre between the 36ers and United.
The Taipans will still play two games next weekend, going against the Sydney Kings on Saturday night and then the Hawks on Monday 18 January.
NBL Commissioner Jeremy Loeliger said he is tremendously excited.
“We are tremendously excited about NBL21 tipping off next Friday with five games scheduled over the first four days of the season and we can’t wait to play in front of as many fans as possible over the coming months.
“The latest changes to the schedule have been made necessary by the developments in Queensland where we currently have five teams, Brisbane Bullets, Cairns Taipans, Melbourne United, Adelaide 36ers and Perth Wildcats.
“We will start the season in Cairns and Adelaide, but we will continue to monitor the situation in Brisbane in the hope we can also host a game there in the opening round. We will continue to stay flexible and be guided by the relevant state health authorities but our intention is still for all teams to play 14 home games across the season when they are able to do so.”
The NBL have not yet published the fixtures for Rounds 2 – 5 but expect them to be released soon. The Taipans have very limited eight-game packages remaining, please visit Taipans HQ from Monday – Friday or call 4041 3000 to secure.
